TEEP - "GHOST"

This "ghost" mix is one of those rare 'one off' moments for me, when selection, arrangement, and mixing all comes together on a first and only attempt to capture it on the decks. The main inspiration for the mix came immediately after a viewing of the classic 1941 film rendition of Jack London's story, "The Sea Wolf" starring Edward G. Robinson. It is a movie that prominently features the fog-enshrouded vessel, "the Ghost", on which its inhabitants are trapped by the tyrannical and morally deranged captain, Wolf Larsen.

Here though, instead of the actors and cinematography providing the emotions and atmospheres, these characteristics come to mind by presenting compositions by some more recent favorite contemporary electronic musicians.

So, in "the Ghost" mix, you will hear then, the drama and suspense of Freak Electrique's "PHASER". The psychosis and dementia of Unit4 and Alden Tyrell's takes on "Body Dub". The adventurous overtones of Legowelt's "Congo Zombie" and quintessential moody darkness of Squadra Blanco's, "The Night Must Fall". From there, the mix moves through some ideas of valor and romance, at the hands of the Prisoner Of Love "Spaceship Near My House" and RA-X's latest Mighty Robot Recording, "the Opium Den". It all comes to a dark and dramatic conclusion, with the reality that "no one gets out of here alive" a point literally driven home by the Black Spider Clan's "Broken Mirror" and the appropriately titled, "Keiner Kommt Hier Lebend Raus."

Finally, I am proud to say that the mix was especially sonically seasoned and prepared to be positioned here, as part of the Simulacron Organization's "darkrooms radio" series on Welt-Am-Draht.
